All you ever needed was a sheet of squared paper and a pen: the ball starts at the centre of a drawn pitch, players take turns extending its path from dot to dot, and the first to reach the opponent's goal wins. What makes the game deep is the bounce rule: when the ball lands on a dot that has been used before, or on the wall, the same player moves again. Long chains of bounces let you cross half the pitch in one turn — or trap yourself with no legal move, which loses the game on the spot. Reading those chains a few moves ahead is the heart of paper soccer strategy.
